The Rolex Submariner Ref. 5514 COMEX is one of the most iconic and rare professional dive watches ever produced.
Manufactured in the 1970s exclusively for the French diving company COMEX (Compagnie Maritime d’Expertises),
this reference was never offered to the public and was issued solely to professional saturation divers.
The defining feature of the 5514 is the helium escape valve (HEV), developed in collaboration with COMEX to
withstand the extreme pressure conditions encountered during deep-sea saturation missions. The matte dial
prominently displays the COMEX logo, emphasizing its professional purpose and historical importance.
The caseback is engraved “ROLEX COMEX” together with the individual diver’s issue number — in this example,
number 726 — directly linking the watch to its original professional assignment.
Today, the Submariner 5514 COMEX is considered one of the most desirable and collectible Submariners ever made,
prized for its extreme rarity, technical innovation and pivotal role in the evolution of modern professional
dive watches.
