The Tornek-Rayville TR-900 is one of the rarest and most historically significant military dive watches ever produced.
Manufactured in the early 1960s exclusively for the U.S. Navy, it represents the American-issued version of the Blancpain
Fifty Fathoms, created to comply with U.S. import regulations that restricted direct military procurement of foreign-branded watches.
The matte black dial is signed “Tornek-Rayville U.S.” and features the distinctive circular moisture indicator — an iconic
detail unique to these military-issued models. Large luminous markers and hands ensured maximum underwater legibility,
while the rotating 60-minute bezel allowed precise dive timing.
The stainless steel caseback typically bears military engravings and radiation warning markings relating to the original
luminous material used during the period. Inside beats a robust automatic movement derived from Blancpain’s professional
dive watch architecture.
Produced in extremely limited numbers for official military use and never offered to the civilian market, the TR-900
stands today as a cornerstone piece in the history of professional dive watches and one of the most sought-after
U.S. military-issued timepieces.
