This 1930s Doxa dress watch represents one of the most sophisticated expressions of the brand during its golden age. Founded by Georges Ducommun in 1889, Doxa reached its peak in the 1930s, famously supplying exquisite dashboard clocks for the legendary Ettore Bugatti automobiles. The watch features a solid 935 silver rectangular case, crafted in two pieces and shaped in the elegant Cintrée style, with gentle curvature and refined proportions. Over time, the silver has developed a charming natural oxidation patina, adding character and historical depth to the piece. The original argenté-grené dial is a masterpiece of 1930s aesthetics: embossed mercury-gilded Breguet numerals, and “Chemin de Fer” tracks for both minutes and seconds, all arranged in a balanced and sophisticated layout typical of Art Deco design. Inside, the watch is powered by a Doxa calibre based on the Fontainemelon FHF movement, celebrated for reliability and fine finishing. Fully original, this example comes with its period-correct strap and original box, an extremely rare survivor from the pre-war era. A superb collectible for enthusiasts of early 20th-century horology and Art Deco design.
