This exceptionally rare Eberhard pocket chronograph from the 1930s represents one of the finest
examples of professional Swiss chronograph engineering from the golden age of mechanical timekeeping.
Its impressive 54.4 mm stainless steel open-face case immediately conveys the instrument-like
character of the watch, while the keyless-winding construction reflects the advanced technical
standards achieved by Eberhard during this remarkable period. Preserved in outstanding condition,
it remains an exceptionally well-maintained example of an important historical chronograph.
The untouched original dial is the true highlight of the watch. Large Arabic numerals provide
outstanding legibility, complemented by elegant heat-blued steel hands. The layout is perfectly
balanced, featuring a small seconds register at six o’clock and a semi-instantaneous 30-minute
chronograph recorder at twelve.
Technically, this timepiece is equally remarkable. The 1/5-second chronograph is activated through
the pusher integrated into the winding crown, while the dial incorporates both a tachymeter and a
telemeter scale, making it a highly sophisticated precision instrument designed for military,
scientific, and sporting applications.
A particularly rare feature is the olive-shaped safety locking bolt at approximately 1:30, allowing
the user to lock the chronograph functions against accidental operation — a solution found only
on a limited number of high-grade professional chronographs of the era.
Complete with its original Eberhard presentation box, this outstanding pocket chronograph is an
exceptional collector’s piece, combining historical importance, technical sophistication, and
remarkable originality in one of the finest surviving examples from the 1930s.
