An exceptional and historically significant Patek Philippe Ref. 1463 “for Beyer”, crafted in 1952 and retailed in 1954 by the renowned Zurich-based distributor Beyer Chronometrie. Introduced in 1940, the reference 1463 holds the distinction of being Patek Philippe’s first water-resistant chronograph, featuring a screw-down case back and round pushers designed by the master case maker Taubert & Fils. Produced in fewer than 750 examples across yellow gold, pink gold, and steel, the 1463 remains one of the most coveted vintage chronographs among collectors. The present example belongs to the second series (circa 1945–1961) and stands apart for its unique dial layout, lacking the traditional tachymeter and “chemin de fer” minute track, emphasizing clarity and elegance. The silvered dial displays radium-filled hands and indexes, an exceptionally rare feature among 1463s, and bears the double signature “Patek Philippe / Beyer”, reflecting one of the longest-standing partnerships in Swiss watchmaking history. Powered by the celebrated caliber 13-130, a manual-winding chronograph movement renowned for its precision and architecture, this watch also bears the “FB” hallmark and “Vacuum” engraving on the case back, testifying to its waterproof design.
